Compulsive eating disorder is one of the most common eating disorders in Americans. Also referred to as binge eating disorder, it is characterized by episodes in which a person eats excessive amounts of food, even when not hungry. The exact causes are currently unknown. Once the disease is recognized, treatment options for compulsive eating disorder include cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, and drug therapy.
