Anorexic Information
Anorexia is a serious condition characterized by excessive weight loss and distorted body image. Although it mainly affects women, the disorder can also occur in men. In many cases, it will develop after a stressful life event, such as the beginning of puberty or moving out of the parents' home. A person who is anorexic may engage in the following activities to maintain an abnormally low weight:
- Dieting
- Fasting
- Overexercising.
Treatment often includes therapy and nutritional counseling. More severe cases may require hospitalization.
